The doctor asks patients with fever and respiratory complaints (cough or shortness of breath) whether they:
have been in risk area * for the past 14 days and if so, in which place (s) they have had direct contact with coronavirus patients and, if so, where and when this occurred.
Patients who have a fever and airway complaints and have recently been in one of the risk areas * or have had a risk contact should NOT come to the practice.

CASE DEFINITION SUSPECTED CASE
A person with:
Fever * (at least 38 degrees Celsius) and at least one of the following respiratory symptoms: cough, shortness of breath
the complaints have arisen within 14 days after returning from a country / region with widespread transmission **
the symptoms have arisen within 14 days after contact with a patient with a confirmed infection with SARS-CoV-2.
* Or feeling feverish in the elderly, as they do not always develop a fever. An immunocompromised patient with airway complaints, who meets the epidemiological criteria, can also be easily tested for SARS-CoV-2.
** Countries / regions with widespread transmission are: China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), Singapore, South Korea and Iran. In addition, some municipalities in Italy: Codogno, Sesto Cremonese, Pizzighettone, Soresina, Sesto SG, Pieve Porto Morone, Casalpusterlengo, Castiglione d'Adda, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano (Lombardy region) and V 'o Euganeo, Mira (Veneto region).
